Who are Wensum Farmers?

The Wensum Farmers Group covers 11,000 ha of the Upper Wensum river catchment in North Norfolk. Beginning in 2015, the group has grown to 29 members. Trust, both between each member and with the farm advisor/lead has national recognition.

The group has focused on enhancing biodiversity and improving water quality at an individual farm scale as well as catchment wide.

Biodiversity projects include pond restoration, supporting our Turtle Doves and integrating environmental stewardship schemes. Due to the declining water quality status of the Wensum, this has become a true focus for the group.
We grow combinable crops, roots, fruit and produce beef and lamb.

How Wensum Farmers (UWCFG) started

We started in 2015 with 15 farmers. We shared a common purpose: to improve farm biodiversity. Since then, Wensum Farmers has grown. We now have 29 members who fund the group.

To bring us as farmers together and gain extra motivation and traction, the group self-funded our own advisor – Lizzie Emmett who works with us 1:1 and as group. Check out Our Projects to find out what we do and how we want to make a difference!

What Wensum Farmers believe in

We are committed to improving water quality in the Wensum river catchment and enhancing the surrounding habitat mosaic. For us, and for future generations. We make great progress by working together, email the Wensum Farmers for more information.
